LOS ANGELES – What happens when you lose $1 million of a mobster’s money in a stock deal gone awry, while your best friend is dating his daughter? Find out in the feature film, Shark City, available for the first time on DVD February 16, 2010 from Morningstar Entertainment and Stardust Pictures.
Shark City – chosen as an official selection in both the Illinois and Temecula International Film Festivals – tells the story of Kenny, a slick stockbroker who can’t fly straight; and Dagen, ladies man and mild-mannered real estate agent. Kenny scams mob boss Ventura Ritt out of a million dollars in a stock deal just as Dagen falls for Ritt’s daughter, Samantha. Subsequently, involving a high-stakes poker game, they come up with a plan to get out of the mess, get the girl, get the cash, and get the mob’s thugs off their backs.
Shark City, which premiered to rave reviews at the Los Angeles screening and at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, comes to DVD February 16.

Morningstar Entertainment gives A Christmas Carol new life

| The Alastair Sim version of the most popular Christmas Carol undergoes massive restoration to release on Blu-Ray.
Toronto: The 1951 version of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday favourite, A Christmas Carol, starring Alastair Sim, has undergone a substantial restoration in preparation for the new Blu-Ray release, out in time for this year’s holiday shopping season.
The original 1951 master was taken through an arduous three month process that involved the removal of dust, static and moving scratches as well as colour correction to achieve an unseen consistency throughout the film. Due to various earlier attempts of cleaning, this version housed many colour differences and inconsistencies that required restoration and in some cases large stains had to be removed. Once complete, all segments were assembled to a new high definition master and a new DVD – as well as a first-ever Blu-Ray version.
Morningstar has now produced the most visually agreeable and longest version of the film at 84 minutes, which now boasts French subtitles, the original 1951 theatrical trailer and a comparison demo where consumers can see some before and after scenes of the film.
A Christmas Carol is available in both standard definition and Blu-ray and is available in store now for a limited time.
