LOS ANGELES – What happens when you lose $1 million of a mobster’s money in a stock deal gone awry, while your best friend is dating his daughter? Find out in the feature film, Shark City, available for the first time on DVD February 16, 2010 from Morningstar Entertainment and Stardust Pictures.
Shark City – chosen as an official selection in both the Illinois and Temecula International Film Festivals – tells the story of Kenny, a slick stockbroker who can’t fly straight; and Dagen, ladies man and mild-mannered real estate agent. Kenny scams mob boss Ventura Ritt out of a million dollars in a stock deal just as Dagen falls for Ritt’s daughter, Samantha. Subsequently, involving a high-stakes poker game, they come up with a plan to get out of the mess, get the girl, get the cash, and get the mob’s thugs off their backs.
Shark City, which premiered to rave reviews at the Los Angeles screening and at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, comes to DVD February 16.

Canadian Based Distributor’s First Releases Include the Critically Acclaimed Garbage Warrior
Company also announces additional acquisitions
TORONTO – Morningstar Entertainment, one of Canada’s leading independent home entertainment distribution companies, will begin distributing DVD product for the first time in the US market this fall with the release of the critically acclaimed documentary “Garbage Warrior.” Founded in 1991, Morningstar Entertainment has represented over 30 entertainment content producers including the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, Mackinac Media, Facets Multi Media, The World Poker Tour, The Player’s Network, FilmsWeLike, Cine Tele Action, Cite Amerique and Big Motion Pictures.
The company has just closed deals with Shoreline Entertainment, Maitland Primrose Group, and Ostrow & Company on 18 titles for distribution in the US including Gordon Pinsent’s Heyday, Little Big Top starring Sid Haig, and Fat Head a smart and surprising documentary in response to the blockbuster hit “Super Size Me”. This batch of acquisitions increases the company’s library of content to over 50 for distribution in the US. The company plans to distribute 10 titles each month in the US, with three to four that cater specifically to the rental market.
